Editorial Product Review:

Amazon.com Review:
If you've ever wondered what you might look like as a blond or whether that dark red lipstick will look good with your complexion, YM Digital Makeover Magic is a low-risk, entertaining way to experiment with different looks. Before you spend hundreds of dollars on unwanted makeup, or waste precious hours locked in the bathroom, crying over a bad haircut, check out this creative photo-editing package.

All you need to get started with your makeover is a photo and a PC. Import your picture to your computer using a scanner, digital camera, or photo CD. While it's more fun to experiment with your own image, you can also choose from the 30 makeover models included with the software. They recommend you use a picture with no makeup or accessories, but you can use the included editing tools to perfect your image and rub out background objects (i.e., excess hair or hats) that may interfere with your makeover. Shortcut buttons make it easy to upload your image or add additional images to your profile.

Digital Makeover Magic offers a variety of tools and options that let you decide just how far to take your makeover. We started out with hairstyles, experimenting with a variety of short, long, straight, and curly dos. While some of the styles seemed a bit too far-fetched for our conservative tastes, others offered real insight into possible options. The only issue we had with these hairstyles is that most were not full enough to frame an entire face, so oftentimes it looked like a few layers of hair were missing. We were excited, however, to note that Digital Makeover Magic offers hairstyles for men as well as women because, after all, why should girls have all the fun?

As for makeup options, Digital Makeover lets you experiment with tons of lipstick, eye shadow, blush, and foundation shades to help you find your perfect palette. One of our favorite features was the contact-lens tool, which lets you change your eye color to blue, green, brown, and everything in between. Other notable features include a virtual zit zapper, a blending tool, eyebrow tweezers, and a tissue to wipe away makeup mistakes. If you need help during your makeover, you can check out some of YM's expert opinions, or you can save your photo and e-mail it to a friend for advice. The application even lets you add virtual backgrounds and scenery, so you can capture your mug on the cover of YM.

While we haven't reached a point yet where changing our look is as easy as clicking a few buttons, YM Digital Makeover Magic will provide hours of entertainment and endless opportunities to transform yourself, if only in a virtual reality. --Gisele Toueg

Customer Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - LovED it
This game was very fun. First, you chose a model(girl or guy w/ atleast 15 who were very different). Then you chose eyes(liner, shadow, contacts color), lips (liner and color), concealor, hair(hundreds of styles), earings, jewlery, hats, tattoes, and background. Also, you could customize the thickness, depth, and color. You could blend too, and this makeover looks VERY realistic, like a photograph. The only thing is that now that I have a new computer, the game isn't working. I'm not sure why, I think it's just because it's old softwear. But if it does work, you're in for loads of fun!

Customer Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Not suitable for XP users
I recently recieved this in the mail from Amazon.com. Not only was the package torn up (I know it was sent from another company and not Amazon, so I don't blame them entirely) but the software wouldn't work on my computer! I tried to install it over and over but apparently the software isn't suitable for some components of Windows XP. I am really disappointed, especially since I was so excited to try this.

Customer Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - I would give it 10 stars if I could!
This program rocks. Don't let other people fool you by sayingit doesn't look real when you do a makeover. It looks totally real and if you want to find out what you look like as a blond, buy this game! Also this game has many choices of hairstyles and accecories. And if you buy this game, you get free downloads and updates for it... Oh and just one thing! The picture of you you put into the ym makeover, DON'T have it be a polaroid pic, it makes it blurry. Just use a regular camera or a one-time used one. Oh and if you want to have a really big laugh, put in photos of celebs!

Customer Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - this is not the greatest program in the world
It is fine if you are just playing but if you really want to see what you look like and really fool them that this isn't the real you, this is not the program you are looking for. If you just want to have some fun then go ahead. It is sort of.

On paper, the Mio DigiWalker P550 looks to be an attractive gadget for the mobile professional, combining the capabilities of a PDA and GPS into one device. However, its poor battery life and subpar navigation skills tell a different story.

Though it won't appeal to the masses quite yet, the Nokia N800 Internet Tablet is a nice, portable device for on-the-go Web browsing, and it has some worthy upgrades.

Though it has a few design and performance glitches, the Sony Ericsson W300i is a quality, basic MP3 cell phone.

Diesel vehicles have nearly a 50-percent market share in Europe, thanks to tax incentives and diesel-friendly legislation across the EU. Diesels are so passé there that you can buy a BMW 730d and no one will think it odd that your luxury car burns oil. Pull up in a diesel 7-Series in America and people would leer at you like you've alighted from an amphibious vehicle reeking of saltwater and dead trout.

But now, thanks to the oft-reported combo of newly-raised CAFE standards, not-so-newly-raised gas prices, and the 50-state diesel engine, GM, Ford, and Chrysler are about to dip more than a hesitant toe into the diesel game. Chrysler offers a diesel in the Grand Cherokee, but soon all three automakers will offer diesels in their best-selling lineups of light trucks -- the Dodge Ram 1500 is expected to offer a 50-state diesel after 2009. Light trucks are being used to lead the charge since those buyers stand to gain the most with the least amount of (perceived) sacrifice.

Diesels currently have 3.2-percent of the American market. Some estimates put them at 15-percent by 2015. That's a huge leap, and diesel still has plenty of hurdles. Diesels will come with a cost premium over gasoline-engined cars. That should be easy enough to conquer -- incentives and some quick cost and longevity calculations should convince people of the benefit. The real hurdle is the nagging issue of perception. The plan will probably be to attack that with a price that makes the proposition unbeatable. Said Chrysler's director of environmental affairs, "If it's priced right, we can sell diesel here. Diesel can give you an immediate poke in fuel economy -- 20 to 40 percent. Not many technologies can deliver that today."
