Dependable Cutting Jaws Get the Job Done
The Zibra Open It! features offset cutting jaws that provide maximum leverage to cut through tough packages quickly and easily. The offset design also serves to keep your hands a safe distance from sharp, ragged edges when you are opening sonic-sealed plastic clamshells. This means you won't cut yourself while opening up new toys or gadgets.

The jaws are crafted from hardened steel, so they can also serve as wire snips. This means that you can safely and effectively cut away the wire twist ties and stubborn plastic zip ties that some manufacturers use in packaging their products. And with a wire snip always handy, you'll never have to ruin a nice pair of scissors again just to open up a package.

Integrated Tools Add Versatility
Hidden in one side of the handle is a self-retractable utility knife that comes in handy anytime you're dealing with cardboard, annoying cellophane wrappers, or sticky tape. Perfect for slicing through boxes or opening CDs and DVDs, this utility knife has a reliable safety lock and automatically retracts when not in use, keeping your hands protected.

Hidden in the other side of the handle is a convenient, integrated screwdriver. This mini screwdriver offers the versatility of interchangeable Phillips and slotted heads, so that when you get new toys and electronics out of their packaging you can open sealed battery compartments without having to hunt for special tools.

Practical, Ergonomic Design Wins Endorsements
It's easy to see why the Zibra Open It! was a finalist for the 2008 Housewares Design Awards, and why it has won the endorsement of TV personality /domestic diva Rachael Ray. Beyond its versatility, the Open It! boasts ergonomically designed soft-grip handles that make it comfortable to hold and work with.

This multi-use tool even features a simple, intuitive 'open/close' lock switch that helps ensure safe storage. Whether you keep it in a kitchen drawer, at the office, or in the glove box of your car, the Open It! is sure to make your life a lot easier.

This Zibra product is guaranteed against defects with normal usage.

Buyer Reviews

Customer Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Frustration gone
Until Amazon manages to get everything packaged in frustration-free packaging, this little toy is a great thing. My favorite part is the bent scissors that let you cut the plastic close to the edge without getting your hand scratched up. This is a wonderful thing.

Customer Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Open It
This is one of the best products I have ever received... Makes those hard to open plastic packaged items a breeze. It includes the battery compartment screwdriver and a utility knive in the handles. I did have a problem with the connection that holds it together breaking and now a girls pony tail holder has replaced it. I bought numerous for Christmas gifts and will make sure they open it first so they CAN open their other gifts. Highly recommend it for everyone especially our senior citizens whose hands may not work like they want them to.

Customer Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Vrey useful indeed
This is a very well-designed device, and with its extremely sharp blades and comfortable grip, should take enormous hassle and frustration out of opening those thrice-damned sealed clear hard plastic packages so many things come in these days. (It should remove some danger as well, considering how easily one can cut oneself on that plastic while trying to tear one open by brute strength.)

I came very, very close to giving this four stars, because--guess what sort of packaging is used for this device? Yup, that's right... so how do you get it out safely and easily?

Actually, they used less durable plastic than one usually sees, so, since I ordered two, I was able to free one sufficiently to cut out the other effortlessly, and then freed the first the rest of the way. I now look forward to many years of reduced frustration with plastic packaging.

Customer Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Such a handy tool
I used to dread opening up those plastic heat sealed packages. I was always fumbling around trying to cut them with scissors which required too much pressure. This handy device lets me cut through them with ease as well as clip wires, plastic ties, and has a slide out blade to open up those Cd/DVD packages. I like the fact that the slide out blade does not stay locked in the out position, because I would probably accidentally stab myself with it. It also has a handy flip out mini screwdriver with reversible phillips/flat bit.

On paper, the Mio DigiWalker P550 looks to be an attractive gadget for the mobile professional, combining the capabilities of a PDA and GPS into one device. However, its poor battery life and subpar navigation skills tell a different story.

Though it won't appeal to the masses quite yet, the Nokia N800 Internet Tablet is a nice, portable device for on-the-go Web browsing, and it has some worthy upgrades.

Though it has a few design and performance glitches, the Sony Ericsson W300i is a quality, basic MP3 cell phone.

Diesel vehicles have nearly a 50-percent market share in Europe, thanks to tax incentives and diesel-friendly legislation across the EU. Diesels are so passé there that you can buy a BMW 730d and no one will think it odd that your luxury car burns oil. Pull up in a diesel 7-Series in America and people would leer at you like you've alighted from an amphibious vehicle reeking of saltwater and dead trout.

But now, thanks to the oft-reported combo of newly-raised CAFE standards, not-so-newly-raised gas prices, and the 50-state diesel engine, GM, Ford, and Chrysler are about to dip more than a hesitant toe into the diesel game. Chrysler offers a diesel in the Grand Cherokee, but soon all three automakers will offer diesels in their best-selling lineups of light trucks -- the Dodge Ram 1500 is expected to offer a 50-state diesel after 2009. Light trucks are being used to lead the charge since those buyers stand to gain the most with the least amount of (perceived) sacrifice.

Diesels currently have 3.2-percent of the American market. Some estimates put them at 15-percent by 2015. That's a huge leap, and diesel still has plenty of hurdles. Diesels will come with a cost premium over gasoline-engined cars. That should be easy enough to conquer -- incentives and some quick cost and longevity calculations should convince people of the benefit. The real hurdle is the nagging issue of perception. The plan will probably be to attack that with a price that makes the proposition unbeatable. Said Chrysler's director of environmental affairs, "If it's priced right, we can sell diesel here. Diesel can give you an immediate poke in fuel economy -- 20 to 40 percent. Not many technologies can deliver that today."
